That location is one of a few locations that can accommodate a larger checkpoint (more officers involved and more time) due to the nature of the road, presence of side streets and lighting. Some other places that they use for the larger checkpoints include 70 and Lakeshore, old 86 at Waterstone, and 86 and Cornerstone. Most of these locations we tend to use on a monthly basis. Just to give you an idea, we do spread our checkpoints around. Some checkpoints last 30 minutes, others may be several hours. A lot depends on other calls and how many officers we have available. ”
