Sand Hill Road at I-40 Overpass

Asheville, North CarolinaMay 01, 2003

Tuesday 9 a.m. I made a legal right turn onto a city street about 1/4 mile before roadblock, but within view of it. Two "chase cars" left the check point and blocked the city street onto which I had turned.

I was told to exit my vehicle and place my hands on the hood of my car. I was arrested for "fleeing a checking station." Later, I was cited for driving without a license (expired).

Animal Services was called to collect my dog which was in my car. My car was towed. I was in custody three hours. Note: my registration, license plates, insurance and safety inspection are current and valid.

I am not a fugitive nor a convicted felon. I was simply on my way to work.
