Six men were arrested and 42 cars were stored or impounded during a six-hour sobriety/driver’s license checkpoint Saturday night in Perris, a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department news release said. About 1,800 cars drove through the checkpoint, which ran from 6 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at Ramona Expressway and Brennan Avenue, the news release said. It was staffed by Perris police, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, volunteers and explorers. The cars were stored or impounded because the drivers had a suspended license or had never been issued a license. The men were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
